Stanley P. Goldstein (1934–2024) was an American businessman, best known as a co-founder of CVS Health, one of the largest U.S. pharmacy chains. His leadership helped shape retail pharmacy and healthcare services, making CVS a household name.
Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Goldstein attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1955. He later served in the U.S. Army before entering business.
In 1963, Goldstein co-founded CVS Health with his brother Sidney Goldstein and Ralph P. Hoagland III. Under his leadership, CVS expanded rapidly, becoming a dominant force in retail pharmacy. He later served as chairman and CEO of Melville Corporation, overseeing CVS’s growth and acquisitions through the 1980s and 1990s.
