Srikumar S. Rao (b.1951) is an Indian-American speaker, author, and former business school professor known for his work on personal mastery, leadership, and resilience.
Born in Bombay (now Mumbai,) India, Rao studied physics at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, before earning an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He later moved to the U.S., obtaining a PhD in Marketing from Columbia Business School (1980.)
Rao worked in corporate roles at Warner Communications and McGraw-Hill before transitioning to academia. He taught at Baruch College, Long Island University, and Columbia Business School, where he developed his Creativity and Personal Mastery (CPM) course to foster personal transformation.
Notable works include Are You Ready to Succeed? Unconventional Strategies for Achieving Personal Mastery in Business and Life (2005,) Happiness at Work: Be Resilient, Motivated, and Successful—No Matter What (2010,) and Modern Wisdom, Ancient Roots: The Movers and Shakers’ Guide to Unstoppable Success (2018,) exploring mindset shifts, leadership, and personal growth.
