Inspirational Quotes by Robert J. Donovan (American Journalist)

Robert John Donovan (1912–2003) was an American journalist, author, and presidential historian known for his political reporting and biographies of U.S. presidents. His work shaped public understanding of American leadership and key historical events.

Born in Buffalo, New York, he began his journalism career at Buffalo Courier-Express, later joining New York Herald Tribune as Washington bureau chief. He then worked for Los Angeles Times, covering presidential administrations and major political developments.

Donovan authored several influential books, including The Assassins (1955) on political violence and Eisenhower: The Inside Story (1956) on Dwight D. Eisenhower’s presidency. His bestseller PT-109: John F. Kennedy in World War II (1961) detailed Kennedy’s wartime heroics. He also wrote Six Days in June: Israel’s Fight for Survival (1967) on the Six-Day War, Conflict and Crisis: The Presidency of Harry S. Truman, 1945–48 (1977,) and Tumultuous Years: The Presidency of Harry S. Truman, 1949–53 (1982.)

His later works include Nemesis: Truman and Johnson in the Coils of War in Asia (1984,) The Second Victory: The Marshall Plan and the Postwar Revival of Europe (1987,) and Unsilent Revolution: Television News and American Public Life, 1948–91 (1992.)
