Inspirational Quotes by Robert E. Pollack (American Biologist)

Robert Elliot Pollack (b.1940) is an American biologist, academic, and philosopher known for his contributions to cancer research, molecular biology, and the intersection of science and faith. He has been a Professor of Biological Sciences at Columbia University and served as Dean of Columbia College (1982–89.)

Born in Brooklyn, New York, he earned a B.A. in physics from Columbia College (1961) and a PhD in biological sciences from Brandeis University (1966.) He conducted postdoctoral research at NYU Langone Health and the Weizmann Institute of Science, later working as a senior scientist at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory before becoming Associate Professor of Microbiology at Stony Brook University (1975.) He founded the Center for the Study of Science and Religion (1999,) fostering dialogue between science and philosophy.

Pollack’s research on cancer cell reversion led to his book Signs of Life: The Language and Meanings of DNA (1994,) exploring genetics and human identity. Other works include The Missing Moment: How the Unconscious Shapes Modern Science (1999,) The Faith of Biology and the Biology of Faith (2000,) and Evolution and the Future of Humanity (2011.)
