Inspirational Quotes by Richard Martin Stern (American Mystery Author)

Richard Martin Stern (1915–2001) was an American author renowned for his contributions to the mystery and disaster-related suspense genres. He also wrote short stories for Collier’s and The Saturday Evening Post magazines.

Born in Fresno, California, Stern gained widespread acclaim with his 1973 novel The Tower, which became the basis for the popular disaster film The Towering Inferno (1974.)

Stern’s first published work, Cry Havoc (1948,) introduced readers to his intricate plotting and suspenseful storytelling. He continued to build his reputation with novels such as The Bright Road to Fear (1958,) which won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel, and Right Hand of Evil (1960.)

Other notable titles include Bloodstone (1965) and Flood (1969,) another disaster-themed book that further cemented his status in the genre. In addition to his standalone novels, Stern created the Johnny Ortiz series, featuring a Navajo Tribal Police officer. The series includes The Bright Road to Fear (1958,) The Hidden (1962,) and The Kif Strike (1964.)
