Rex Taylor Reed (b.1938) is an American film critic, journalist, and media personality known for his sharp wit and contrarian views on cinema. His decades-long career has made him a recognizable voice in entertainment journalism.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, he studied journalism at Louisiana State University, graduating in 1960. Moving to New York City, he wrote on popular culture, art, and celebrities for various publications. His blunt style and strong opinions made him a controversial yet influential critic.

Reed was a longtime writer for The New York Observer, authoring the “Talk of the Town” column. He also contributed to Cosmopolitan, Vogue, GQ, and The New York Post. His television appearances included serving as a panelist on The Gong Show (1976–80) and co-hosting At the Movies (1986–90.)

His books include Do You Sleep in the Nude? (1970,) a collection of celebrity interviews; Conversations in the Raw (1974,) featuring candid discussions with Hollywood figures; and Valentines & Vitriol (1977,) showcasing his sharp critiques and observations.
