Inspirational Quotes by Ralph Waldo Trine (American Mystic)

Ralph Waldo Trine (1866–1958) was an American New Thought writer, philosopher, and animal welfare activist. His works emphasized spirituality, self-improvement, and ethical living, influencing generations.

Born in Mount Morris, Illinois, he studied at Knox College (graduating in 1891) and later pursued history and political science at Johns Hopkins University. He worked as a journalist for the Boston Evening Transcript, influenced by Ralph Waldo Emerson’s philosophy.

Trine’s most famous book, In Tune with the Infinite (1897,) became a cornerstone of the New Thought movement, selling millions of copies and being translated into 20 languages. Other notable works include The Greatest Thing Ever Known (1898,) Every Living Creature (1899,) In the Fire of the Heart (1906,) The Wayfarer on the Open Road (1908,) My Philosophy and My Religion (1921,) and The Power That Wins (1929.) His writings blended Buddhism, pantheism, transcendentalism, and Christian socialism.

Beyond literature, Trine was a vegetarian and animal welfare advocate, serving as director of the American Humane Education Society and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He lived and worked on a fruit farm in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.
