Peter Gilchrist McArthur (1866–1924) was a Canadian writer, poet, and farmer known for his humorous, insightful reflections on rural life. His works captured Canadian identity, blending wit, wisdom, and social commentary.

Born in Ekfrid Township, Ontario, he studied at the University of Toronto before pursuing journalism. He worked for the Toronto Daily Mail and later moved to New York City, contributing to Punch, The Atlantic Monthly, and The New York Sun.
