Nicholas Benbow Evans (1950–2022) was a British journalist, screenwriter, television and film producer, and novelist. He is best known for his début novel, The Horse Whisperer (1995,) which became a bestseller and was later adapted into a successful 1998 film directed by and starring Robert Redford.
Born in Worcestershire, England, Evans studied law at Oxford University before starting a career in journalism and later transitioning to writing fiction. In addition to The Horse Whisperer, he wrote several other novels, including The Loop (1998,) The Smoke Jumper (2001,) The Divide (2005,) and The Brave (2010.) He was also a screenwriter and worked on various film and television projects.
