N.D. Wilson (b.1978,) fully Nathaniel David Wilson, is an American author known for young adult fiction, children’s literature, and apologetics. His works blend fantasy, adventure, and philosophical themes, making him a distinctive voice in contemporary literature.
Born in Moscow, Idaho, he is the son of Douglas Wilson, a Calvinist minister, and Nancy Wilson, an author. He studied at New Saint Andrews College, graduating in 1999, and earned a master’s in liberal arts from St. John’s College (2001.) His passion for storytelling led him to write children’s fantasy novels inspired by classic literature and mythology. Beyond writing, Wilson has worked as a teacher, editor, and filmmaker, contributing to literary and theological discussions.
His books incorporate historical, mythological, and philosophical elements, offering engaging, thought-provoking narratives. Notable works include the 100 Cupboards trilogy—100 Cupboards (2007,) Dandelion Fire (2008,) and The Chestnut King (2010)—about a boy discovering magical doors. His Ashtown Burials series—The Dragon’s Tooth (2011,) The Drowned Vault (2012,) and Empire of Bones (2013)—explores secret societies and ancient mysteries.
