Monty Hall (1921–2017,) born Monte Halparin, was a Canadian-American television host and producer best known for creating and hosting Let’s Make a Deal (1963.) His charisma and innovative format made the show a television staple.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Hall initially pursued medicine but shifted to broadcasting after engaging in university radio and theater. He moved to the U.S. in 1955, building a successful television career.
Hall’s Let’s Make a Deal became famous for its interactive format, where contestants dressed in costumes and made deals for prizes. The show also inspired the Monty Hall Problem, a probability puzzle debated among mathematicians.
