Michael Armstrong (b.1944) is an English filmmaker, screenwriter, and director known for his contributions to horror and cult cinema. His works blend psychological tension, dark humor, and provocative themes, earning him a reputation as a bold storyteller.
Born in Bolton, Lancashire, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA.) At 22, he wrote and directed the award-winning short film The Image (1969,) starring David Bowie. His first feature, The Haunted House of Horror (1969,) was a commercial success, followed by Mark of the Devil (1970,) a cult classic.
His filmography includes The Sex Thief (1973,) Eskimo Nell (1975,) Adventures of a Private Eye (1977,) and House of the Long Shadows (1983,) featuring Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, and Peter Cushing.
