Inspirational Quotes by Margueritte Harmon Bro (American Missionary)

Margueritte Harmon Bro (1894–1977) was an American minister, missionary, and author, known for her religious writings, children’s books, and contributions to spiritual literature. Her work explored faith, education, and personal growth, making her a respected figure in Christian publishing.

Born in David City, Nebraska, Bro studied at Cotner College, graduating in 1917. She married Albin C. Bro in 1918, and they moved to China to run a boys’ school. During this time, she became close friends with Nobel Prize-winning author Pearl S. Buck.

Bro’s literary career focused on faith, education, and personal growth. Her first solo book, When Children Ask (1940,) provided guidance on answering children’s spiritual questions. Other notable works include Thursdays at Ten (1942,) on Myrtle Dean Clark, Every Day a Prayer (1943,) and Why Church? (1947,) exploring faith’s role in daily life. She co-authored Invitation to the Theater (1938) with Frank Hurburt O’Hara.

Her article Miracle Man of Virginia Beach (1943) introduced Edgar Cayce’s work to a national audience, sparking interest in spiritual healing.
