Leonore Fleischer (1932–2009) was an American writer known for her prolific film novelizations, adapting screenplays into books that captured cinematic storytelling. Over her career, she published more than 40 novelizations, often under pseudonyms.

Born in the United States, she worked as a senior editor at Ballantine Books before shifting to full-time writing. Her first novelization, C.C. & Company (1970,) was published under Mike Roote due to professional conflicts. She later wrote under Alexander Edwards and Allison Thomas before using her real name.

Notable works include Enter the Dragon (1973,) Benji (1975,) A Star Is Born (1976,) Ice Castles (1978,) Rain Man (1989,) Shadowlands (1993,) Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (1994,) and The Net (1995.) She also wrote nonfiction on Joni Mitchell and Dolly Parton, as well as the Hearts and Diamonds teen fiction series.

Fleischer, known as the “den mother of novelizers,” was praised for quickly adapting films into engaging books. Her novelization of Benji sold over three million copies, while A Star Is Born surpassed one million.
