Larry Page (b.1973,) fully Lawrence Edward Page, is an American computer scientist, entrepreneur, and Google co-founder. His innovations in search algorithms, artificial intelligence, and digital infrastructure have shaped the modern internet.
Born in Lansing, Michigan, he was raised in a computer science-focused household—his father was a professor, and his mother taught programming. He studied computer engineering at the University of Michigan before pursuing a PhD at Stanford University, where he met Sergey Brin. Together, they developed the PageRank algorithm, forming the foundation of Google’s search engine.
In 1998, Page and Brin launched Google, revolutionizing online information access. He served as Google’s CEO 1997–2001 and again 2011–15, before transitioning to lead Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company. Under his leadership, Google expanded into cloud computing, AI, and autonomous technology.
Page has authored influential papers on search algorithms and digital information systems but is primarily recognized for technological innovation. His contributions to computer science and entrepreneurship earned him accolades, including the Marconi Prize (2004.)
