Kjell Magne Bondevik (b.1947) is a Norwegian Lutheran minister and politician, best known as Prime Minister of Norway (1997–2000, 2001–05.) As leader of the Christian Democratic Party (KrF,) he shaped late 20th and early 21st-century Norwegian politics.

Born in Molde, Norway, he studied theology at the MF Norwegian School of Theology, earning his degree (1975.) Ordained in the Church of Norway (1979,) he soon prioritized politics. Elected to the Storting (1973,) he represented Møre og Romsdal and later served as Minister of Education and Church Affairs (1983–86) and Minister of Foreign Affairs (1989–90.)

As Prime Minister (1997,) he led a centrist coalition, focusing on environmental policies, welfare reforms, and diplomacy. In 1998, he openly discussed his battle with depression, becoming one of the first world leaders to address mental health. He returned to office, later leading a center-right coalition (2001–05.) After retiring, he founded the Oslo Centre for Peace and Human Rights (2006,) advocating global democracy and conflict resolution.
