Katherine Neville (b.1945) is an American author known for adventure and quest novels, blending historical intrigue with suspense. Translated into 40 languages, her works remain globally popular.
Born in Missouri, U.S., Neville studied African literature before pursuing a career in data processing, working for IBM, the U.S. Department of Energy, and Bank of America. Her international consulting, spanning seven countries across three continents, influenced her writing.
Her début novel, The Eight (1988,) became a bestseller, praised for its complex dual timeline. The sequel, The Fire (2008,) continues the story of a mystical chess set. Other notable works include A Calculated Risk (1992,) a financial thriller, and The Magic Circle (1998,) exploring ancient mysteries and political intrigue.
