Juma Ikangaa (b.1957) is a Tanzanian former marathon runner known for his endurance and competitive spirit, earning respect as a top long-distance athlete.
Born in Dodoma, Tanzania, he gained international recognition by winning the New York City Marathon (1989) in a course-record 2:08:01. A sentimental favorite at the Boston Marathon, he finished second three consecutive years (1988–90.)
Ikangaa represented Tanzania in the Olympic Games (1984, 1988, 1992) and won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games Marathon (1982.) Victories in Tokyo, Melbourne, and Fukuoka cemented his status as a world-class competitor.
