Inspirational Quotes by John Sexton (American Photographer)

John Sexton (b.1953) is an American fine art photographer known for his black-and-white landscape photography and mastery of traditional darkroom techniques. His work emphasizes tonal quality, quiet light, and intimate natural scenes, making him a leading figure in contemporary photography.

Sexton studied photography at Cypress College and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Chapman University. He was Technical and Photographic Assistant to Ansel Adams (1979–84) and later Technical Consultant to the Ansel Adams Publishing Rights Trust.

His notable publications include Quiet Light (1990,) a collection of black-and-white photographs; Listen to the Trees (1994,) exploring nature’s subtle beauty; Places of Power: The Aesthetics of Technology (2000,) examining industrial landscapes; and Recollections: Three Decades of Photographs (2006,) a career retrospective.

Sexton has lectured at museums and universities, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, George Eastman House, and the Seattle Art Museum. He also directs the John Sexton Photography Workshops, teaching darkroom printing and the Zone System.
