Jeremy Irons (b.1948) is an English actor known for his versatility across film, television, and theater. One of the few to achieve the Triple Crown of Acting, he has won an Academy Award, Tony Award, and multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Awards.
Born in Cowes, Isle of Wight, he trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, launching his career in West End productions. His breakthrough came with the ITV series Brideshead Revisited (1981,) followed by his Academy Award-winning role in Reversal of Fortune (1990.)
His notable films include The French Lieutenant’s Woman (1981,) Dead Ringers (1988,) Damage (1992,) The Lion King (1994,) Kingdom of Heaven (2005,) and Margin Call (2011.) He also starred in Watchmen (2019) and The Borgias (2011–13.)
Beyond acting, Irons has narrated documentaries and published Jeremy Irons: A Life in Film (2015,) exploring his career and artistic philosophy.
