Inspirational Quotes by Jeanne Marie Laskas (American Journalist)

Jeanne Marie Laskas (b.1958) is an American writer, journalist, and professor known for her storytelling and investigative journalism. She has authored eight books, including To Obama: With Love, Joy, Anger, and Hope (2018) and Concussion (2015,) later adapted into a film starring Will Smith.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Laskas has been a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine and GQ, covering topics from coal miners to NFL brain injuries. Her GQ article Game Brain (2009) exposed the dangers of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in football, sparking awareness and policy changes.

Her other works include Hidden America: From Coal Miners to Cowboys, an Extraordinary Exploration of the Unseen People Who Make This Country Work (2012,) highlighting overlooked workers, and Growing Girls: The Mother of All Adventures (2006,) a memoir on motherhood. She also wrote The Exact Same Moon (2003) and Fifty Acres and a Poodle (2000,) reflecting on rural life and personal growth.

Laskas’ essays have appeared in The Best American Magazine Writing and The Best American Sportswriting, earning National Magazine Award nominations. She is a Distinguished Professor of English and Founding Director of the Center for Creativity at the University of Pittsburgh.
