Jake Steinfeld (b.1958) is an American fitness personality, entrepreneur, actor, and author, best known for his Body by Jake brand, which popularized home fitness training. His career spans television, business, and sports, making him a pioneer in the fitness industry.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, he grew up in Baldwin, Long Island. He moved to Los Angeles to pursue personal training, working with celebrities like Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg. His success led to Body by Jake, a fitness empire of books, TV programs, and equipment. Beyond fitness, he co-founded Major League Lacrosse (2001) and chaired the California Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports (2006–11.)
Steinfeld authored several books, including Body by Jake (1984,) Don’t Quit: Motivation and Exercises to Bring Out the Winner in You (1993,) I’ve Seen a Lot of Famous People Naked, and They’ve Got Nothing on You!
