J. Harold Wilkins was an automotive businessman from Memphis, Tennessee, who held the position of president at Optimist International, a global service club organization with nearly 3,000 clubs and over 80,000 members in 20 countries, dedicated to fostering positive change and community development worldwide.
Wilkins, who joined the Optimist Club of Memphis in 1941, demonstrated a longstanding commitment to the organization. He served as president of his local club in 1946-47, took on roles as director and lieutenant governor in subsequent years, and became the district governor in 1952–53. Elected as vice president in 1956, Wilkins later assumed the presidency at the 41st annual convention held in Miami Beach, Florida, in 1959.
