J. Harold Smith (1910–2001) was a Southern Baptist evangelist, best known for founding Radio Bible Hour and his passionate preaching on Christian revival and salvation. His ministry spanned decades, influencing thousands through radio broadcasts, sermons, and writings.
Born in Woodruff, South Carolina, Smith initially planned to study medicine but changed course after a spiritual awakening (1932.) He began preaching, drawing large audiences across the Southern U.S. In 1935, he launched Radio Bible Hour, a Gospel program that broadcast for over 80 years.
His sermons focused on repentance, salvation, and biblical prophecy. His most famous message, God’s Three Deadlines (1976,) warned of the consequences of rejecting faith. Other works include How to Be Saved, a guide to Christian salvation, and The Second Coming of Christ, exploring biblical prophecy.
