Irvin Shrewsbury Cobb (1876–1944) was an American writer, humorist, and journalist known for his sharp wit and keen observations of American life. His writing often drew from his Southern roots, offering a humorous yet insightful look at American culture.

Born in Paducah, Kentucky, Cobb began his career as a reporter for local newspapers before moving to New York in the early 1900s. He became a prominent writer for The Saturday Evening Post, Harper’s Magazine, and Collier’s Weekly, gaining fame for his humorous essays and stories.
