Inspirational Quotes by Haridas Chaudhuri (Indian Philosopher)

Haridas Chaudhuri (1913–75) was an Indian philosopher, educator, and writer known for his contributions to integral philosophy and the founding of the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS.) His work emphasized spiritual integration, Eastern and Western thought, and human consciousness.

Born in Shyamagram, East Bengal (now Bangladesh,) Chaudhuri studied at Scottish Church College and earned a PhD in Indian philosophy from the University of Calcutta. He became chair of philosophy at Krishnagar College before moving to the U.S. in 1951 at Frederic Spiegelberg’s invitation.

Influenced by Sri Aurobindo’s integral philosophy, Chaudhuri introduced his ideas to Western academia. He co-founded the Cultural Integration Fellowship (CIF) in San Francisco, which evolved into CIIS, focusing on cross-cultural studies in philosophy, psychology, and spirituality.

Notable works include Sri Aurobindo: The Prophet of Life Divine (1952) on Aurobindo’s teachings, Integral Yoga: The Concept of Harmonious and Creative Living (1965) on spiritual integration, and The Evolution of Integral Consciousness (1977) on human consciousness and transformation.
