Born in Pueblo, Colorado, Vandeman studied at Emmanuel Missionary College before earning an M.A. in speech and communication from the University of Michigan (1946.) His thesis, Spurgeon’s Theory of Preaching (1946,) reflected his deep interest in evangelism and public speaking.
He began his ministry as a radio evangelist before transitioning to television. In 1956, he launched It Is Written, a Bible study telecast that gained national and international recognition, combining scriptural teachings with modern media for broad accessibility.
His notable books include Planet in Rebellion (1975) on biblical prophecy and spiritual conflict and What I Like About… (1989,) which discusses Christian faith across denominations. He also conducted Revelation Seminars, drawing thousands seeking biblical insights.
