Inspirational Quotes by George Samuel Clason (American Writer)

George Samuel Clason (1874–1957) was an American author and businessman best known for The Richest Man in Babylon (1926,) a seminal work in personal finance literature.

Born in Louisiana, Missouri, Clason attended the University of Nebraska before beginning his career in business and publishing. He served in the U.S. Army during the Spanish–American War and later worked in advertising before focusing on financial education.

In the early 1920s, Clason founded a publishing company that distributed pamphlets on financial principles to banks and institutions. These pamphlets, written as parables set in ancient Babylon, taught lessons on living below one’s means, saving, investing, and seeking financial advice. These teachings were compiled in The Richest Man in Babylon (1926,) which has sold millions of copies and remains one of the most popular personal finance books due to its timeless and accessible guidance.

Clason also wrote The Millionaire’s Secret (1932,) which explored wealth and success, though it did not achieve the same level of recognition. He founded the Clason Map Company in Denver, Colorado, and Clason Publishing Company.
