Inspirational Quotes by Fredrik Bajer (Danish Peace Activist)

Fredrik Bajer (1837–1922) was a Danish writer, politician, and pacifist, known for advocating international peace and Scandinavian unity. He won the Nobel Peace Prize (1908) alongside Klas Pontus Arnoldson for contributions to diplomacy and peace movements.

Born in Næstved, Denmark, Bajer first pursued a military career, serving as a lieutenant in the 1864 war against Prussia and Austria. After his discharge (1865,) he shifted to teaching, writing, and activism.

Elected to the Danish Parliament (Folketing) in 1872, he served 23 years, championing international arbitration, neutrality, and women’s rights. He helped Denmark join the Inter-Parliamentary Union and founded the International Peace Bureau (1891,) serving as president until 1907.

Notable works include Nordisk Fristats Samfund (1870,) promoting Nordic cooperation, and Dansk Kvindesamfund (1871,) supporting women’s rights. He also contributed to Folkevennen (Friend of the People,) a journal advocating peace and social reform.
