Frederica Mathewes-Green (b.1952) is an American author, speaker, and commentator known for her writings on Eastern Orthodox Christianity, faith, and culture. Her work blends storytelling, humor, and theological insight, making her a respected voice in Orthodox Christian thought.

Born in Charleston, South Carolina, she earned a Master of Theological Studies from Virginia Theological Seminary (1977.) Originally part of the Episcopal Church, she and her family converted to Eastern Orthodoxy in 1993, shaping much of her later writings. Active in the pro-life movement, she served as vice president of Feminists for Life of America and continues to speak at universities, conferences, and churches on faith, culture, and spirituality.

She also wrote Mary as the Early Christians Knew Her (2007,) exploring early Christian perspectives on Mary.
