Inspirational Quotes by Felix G. Rohatyn (American Banker)

Felix George Rohatyn (1928–2019) was an American investment banker, diplomat, and financial strategist best known for preventing New York City’s bankruptcy in the 1970s and serving as U.S. Ambassador to France (1997–2000.)

Born in Vienna, Austria, he fled Nazi-occupied Europe with his family, arriving in the U.S. in 1942. He studied physics at Middlebury College, graduating in 1949, before joining Lazard Frères, where he became a key figure in mergers and acquisitions.

In 1975, Rohatyn chaired the Municipal Assistance Corporation, negotiating financial solutions that saved New York City from collapse. His expertise in public finance and infrastructure shaped economic policy for decades.

His books include Dealings: A Political and Financial Life (2010,) a memoir of his career, and Bold Endeavors: How Our Government Built America, and Why It Must Rebuild Now (2009,) advocating for national infrastructure investment.
