Inspirational Quotes by Ernst Deutsch (Austrian Actor)

Ernst Deutsch (1890–1969,) also known as Ernest Dorian, was an Austrian actor renowned for his contributions to Expressionist theater and film. His performances in silent films and stage productions defined German-speaking theater.

Born in Prague, Austria-Hungary, Deutsch initially pursued tennis, ranking seventh in the Austro-Hungarian rankings, before shifting to acting. He débuted in 1914 at Wiener Volksbühne and later joined Albert-Theater in Dresden (1916,) where his role in Walter Hasenclever’s The Son established him as a leading Expressionist actor.

He appeared in over 40 silent films, including The Golem: How He Came into the World (1920,) a classic of German Expressionist cinema. He gained international fame as Baron Kurtz in The Third Man (1949.)

With the rise of Nazism, Deutsch fled Germany in 1933, performing in London and New York before moving to Hollywood under the name Ernest Dorian. After World War II, he returned to Vienna and Berlin, continuing his stage career.
