Inspirational Quotes by Edward Frederick Knight (British Journalist)

Edward Frederick Knight (1852–1925) was an English barrister, soldier, journalist, and author known for his adventurous spirit and extensive writings on travel and war.

Born in England, Knight spent part of his early years in British India before studying at Westminster School and Caius College-Cambridge. Called to the Bar in 1879, he soon abandoned law for journalism, becoming a war correspondent for The Times and The Morning Post, covering the Franco-Prussian, Russo-Turkish, and Spanish-American wars. His experiences, including being wounded in the Anglo-Boer War, shaped his writing.

Knight authored numerous books, often based on his travels and war reporting. The Cruise of the Falcon (1887) recounts his sailing adventures, while The Falcon on the Baltic (1888) details a voyage to Copenhagen. Where Three Empires Meet (1890) describes his travels in Kashmir and Tibet. Rhodesia of Today (1895) offers observations on Cecil Rhodes’ expansion in Africa. The Cruise of the Alerte (1890) narrates his search for treasure on Trindade Island. His later works, Small-Boat Sailing (1901) and The Harwich Naval Forces (1914,) reflect his maritime expertise.
