Inspirational Quotes by Eda LeShan (American Writer, Educator)

Eda Joan LeShan (1922–2002,) née Grossman, was an American psychologist, educator, and family counselor known for her empathetic insights into child development, parenting, and emotional well-being.

Born in Manhattan, New York City, she earned a degree in early childhood education from Teachers College at Columbia University and a master’s in child psychology from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.

LeShan authored over two dozen books guiding readers through life’s challenges. Notable works include When Your Child Drives You Crazy (1980,) a humorous yet practical parenting guide, and The Conspiracy Against Childhood (1973,) which critiques societal pressures that limit children’s emotional growth. Later in life, she explored aging in Wonderful Crisis of Middle Age: Reflections (1973,) Oh, to Be Fifty Again! (1986,) and Grandparents: A Special Kind of Love (1984.)

In the 1970s, she hosted the PBS series How Do Your Children Grow? and contributed regularly to publications. She was a columnist for Newsday, a contributing editor for Parents, and, for nine years, wrote the ‘Talking It Over’ column for Woman’s Day.
