Douglas Kennedy (b.1955) is an American novelist and travel writer known for international bestsellers exploring identity, relationships, and personal transformation. His works, translated into over 20 languages, have earned a global readership.

Born in New York City, Kennedy studied at Bowdoin College, graduating magna cum laude in 1976, then attended Trinity College Dublin. He began in theater, co-founding a Dublin cooperative before shifting to journalism and fiction.

His début novel, The Dead Heart (1994,) was followed by The Big Picture (1997,) a bestseller adapted into a film.
