Doug Larson (1926–2017,) fully Douglas Lincoln Larson, was an American columnist, cartoonist, and aphorist celebrated for his insightful and humorous take on everyday life.

Born in Sturgeon Bay, Door County, Wisconsin, Larson enlisted in the United States Army Medical Corps in 1945, serving as a surgical technician for 18 months. Following his discharge as a private first class, he pursued a degree in English and earned a teaching certificate from Carroll College.

Doug’s journalism career began at the Door County Advocate, where he was the editor 1953–64. He then held a 24-year stint at the Green Bay Press Gazette 1953–84. Renowned for his syndicated column, ‘Doug’s Dugout,’ he covered a diverse range of topics with his unique wit and charm, establishing himself as the master of zany one-liners.
