Inspirational Quotes by Diodorus Siculus (Greek Historian)

Diodorus Siculus (fl. 1st century BCE) was an ancient Greek historian best known for Bibliotheca historica, a universal history chronicling the world from mythological times to his era.

Born in Agyrium, Sicily, Diodorus traveled extensively, gathering sources in Egypt, Rome, and other Mediterranean regions. His Bibliotheca historica comprised 40 books, though only Books 1–5 and 11–20 survive intact. The history was divided into three sections: mythic history and geography, events from the Trojan War to Alexander the Great, and a continuation up to 60 BCE.

Diodorus drew from earlier historians, including Ephorus, Hieronymus of Cardia, and Polybius, compiling their works into a cohesive narrative. His writings offer valuable insights into ancient civilizations, including Egypt, Mesopotamia, India, and Greece.

Though some critics see him as a compiler rather than an original historian, his work remains invaluable, preserving details from lost sources.
