Inspirational Quotes by Darrell Royal (American Sportsperson)

Darrell K Royal (1924–2012) was an American football coach who transformed the University of Texas Longhorns (1957–76.) He led Texas to three national championships (1963, 1969, 1970) and 11 Southwest Conference titles, becoming the winningest coach in Longhorns history.

Born in Hollis, Oklahoma, Royal played quarterback and defensive back at the University of Oklahoma (1946–49,) earning All-American honors. After coaching at Mississippi State and Washington, he joined Texas, introducing the wishbone offense, revolutionizing college football strategy.

Royal never had a losing season, finishing with a 184–60–5 record. Inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame (1983,) he was honored in 1996 when Texas renamed its stadium Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.
