Ralph Dale Earnhardt Jr. (b.1974) is an American stock car racing driver, team owner, broadcaster, and author, known for his NASCAR success and contributions to motorsports media. A third-generation racer, he followed in the footsteps of his legendary father, Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Born in Kannapolis, North Carolina, Earnhardt Jr. began his career in the NASCAR Busch Series (now Xfinity Series,) winning back-to-back championships (1998, 1999.) He transitioned to the NASCAR Cup Series, winning 26 races, including two Daytona 500 victories (2004, 2014.) His popularity earned him 15 consecutive NASCAR Most Popular Driver awards (2003–17.)
Beyond racing, Earnhardt Jr. built a successful media career, serving as a NBC Sports NASCAR analyst and founding Dirty Mo Media, a motorsports-focused production company.
His books include Driver #8 (2002,) Racing to the Finish: My Story (2018,) and a children’s series featuring Buster’s Trip to Victory Lane (2022,) Buster Gets Back on Track (2023,) and Buster and the Christmas Parade (2024.)
