Clarence Crane Brinton (1898–1968) was an American historian and scholar known for his influential works on revolution and intellectual history. His writings shaped modern interpretations of political upheaval.

Born in Winsted, Connecticut, Brinton studied at Harvard University, earning his undergraduate degree (1919.) As a Rhodes Scholar, he continued at Oxford University, receiving his doctorate (1923.) He returned to Harvard as a professor, later becoming McLean Professor of Ancient and Modern History (1946.)

His most famous work, The Anatomy of Revolution (1938,) compared revolutions to a fever cycle, analyzing the English, American, French, and Russian revolutions.
