Inspirational Quotes by Corrie Ten Boom (Dutch Evangelist)

Corrie ten Boom (1892–1983,) born Cornelia Arnolda Johanna ten Boom, was a Dutch Christian author, Holocaust survivor, and advocate for forgiveness and reconciliation. Her message of forgiveness, even toward her former Nazi captors, remains a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the transformative power of faith.

Born in Haarlem, Netherlands, ten Boom was part of a devout Christian family. Her father, Casper ten Boom, a watchmaker, and the family provided refuge to Jews during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. In 1944, they were betrayed, and she, her father, and her sister were arrested by the Gestapo.

After months in concentration camps, including Ravensbrück, where her sister Betsie died, ten Boom was released due to a clerical error. Following the war, she shared her story of faith and survival as a speaker and writer. Her most famous book, The Hiding Place (1971,) details her family’s efforts to hide Jews, their arrest, and her experiences in the camps. The bestseller was adapted into a film in 1975.

The Hiding Place also reflects on God’s presence in suffering, the power of forgiveness, and the courage to stand up for what is right. Other notable works include In My Father’s House (1974) and Tramp for the Lord (1974,) which chronicle her faith journey, healing, and missionary work.
