Charles Wade Barkley (b.1963) is a former professional basketball player, sports analyst, and author known for his outspoken personality and dominant presence on the court. Over his 16-year NBA career, he became the fourth player to amass 20,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, and 4,000 assists. After retiring, he found success as a sports commentator.

Born in Leeds, Alabama, Barkley played college basketball at Auburn University before being selected fifth overall in the 1984 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He played for the 76ers, Phoenix Suns, and Houston Rockets, earning 11 All-Star selections and the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in 1993.

Beyond basketball, Barkley gained prominence as a television analyst on Inside the NBA, where his candid, humorous commentary made him a fan favorite. He authored Outrageous!: The Fine Life and Flagrant Good Times of Basketball’s Irresistible Force (1992,) Sir Charles: The Wit and Wisdom of Charles Barkley (1994,) I May Be Wrong but I Doubt It (2002,) and Who’s Afraid of a Large Black Man? (2005.)
