Carole King Klein (b.1942,) born Carol Joan Klein, is an American songwriter and singer (alto,) widely recognized as one of pop music’s most prolific and influential female musicians. She composed dozens of hit songs in the 1960s and 1970s.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, she began her career co-writing hits with her then-husband, Gerry Goffin. Their collaborations produced timeless classics such as Will You Love Me Tomorrow (1960,) The Loco-Motion (1962,) and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman (1967,) cementing her status as a top-tier songwriter.

In the 1970s, King launched a successful solo career, releasing Writer (1970) and the landmark album Tapestry (1971,) which topped the U.S. album chart for 15 weeks and remained on the charts for six years. Featuring It’s Too Late and You’ve Got a Friend, the album earned four Grammy Awards.
