Brandy Norwood (b.1979) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and model known for her distinctive vocal style and influence on contemporary R&B.
Born in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in Carson, California, she began as a backing vocalist before signing with Atlantic Records in 1993. Her début album, Brandy (1994,) sold over six million copies worldwide, establishing her as a rising star.
Her second album, Never Say Never (1998,) featured the Grammy-winning duet “The Boy Is Mine” with Monica, one of the best-selling female duets. She followed with Full Moon (2002) and Afrodisiac (2004,) praised for innovative production and vocal arrangements.
Beyond music, Brandy starred in the UPN sitcom Moesha (1996–2001,) earning widespread recognition. She also played Cinderella in the 1997 television adaptation alongside Whitney Houston. Her film credits include I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998.)
Her later albums, Human (2008,) Two Eleven (2012,) and B7 (2020,) showcased her evolving artistry. In 2015, she made her Broadway début as Roxie Hart in Chicago. She has sold over 40 million records globally and earned numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award.
