Bob Parsons (b.1950,) fully Robert Ralph Parsons, is an American entrepreneur and philanthropist. He founded the web hosting company GoDaddy, which he launched in 1997 and grew into one of the world’s largest domain registrar and web hosting companies.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Parsons served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and worked as a software engineer. In 1975, Parsons obtained an accounting degree from the University of Baltimore. Parsons founded the GoDaddy group of companies in 1997. He sold approximately 70 percent of GoDaddy to a private equity consortium and resigned as CEO in 2011. He served as Executive Chairman until 2014 and director until 2018. Parsons founded YAM Worldwide to continue entrepreneurial ventures in power sports, golf, real estate, and marketing.
In addition to his business ventures, Parsons is known for his philanthropic work through The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation, which focuses on supporting causes related to education, veterans, and health care. He is also an avid motorcycle enthusiast and has been involved in various charitable rides to support wounded veterans.
