Inspirational Quotes by Bob Knight (American Basketball Coach)

Bob Knight (1940–2023,) formally Robert Montgomery Knight, was an American college basketball coach known for his winning record and fiery personality. His principles of discipline and commitment influenced generations of players and coaches.

Born in Massillon, Ohio, he played basketball at Ohio State University under coach Fred Taylor before beginning his coaching career as an assistant at the United States Military Academy. In 1971, he became head coach at Indiana University, where he achieved unprecedented success, winning three NCAA championships (1976, 1980, 1983) and leading the last perfect season in NCAA Division I men’s basketball history (1976.) His discipline, attention to detail, and tough-love approach earned him the nickname “The General.”

Knight shared his unconventional approach to success in The Power of Negative Thinking: Achieving Results (2001) and recounted his life in his autobiography Knight: My Story (2003.)
