Ben Stein (b.1944,) fully Benjamin Jeremy Stein, is an American writer, lawyer, actor, comedian, television personality, and commentator recognized for his sharp wit, satirical style, and multifaceted career.

Born in Washington, D.C., Stein graduated from Columbia University and earned a law degree from Yale Law School in 1967. He began his career as a speechwriter for Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, contributing to the political landscape of the 1970s.

Stein gained widespread recognition as an actor, particularly for his role as the monotone economics teacher in the film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986.) His deadpan delivery became iconic and solidified his status as a comedic character actor.

As an author, Stein wrote numerous books, including How to Ruin Your Life (1987,) a humorous self-help book offering satirical life advice. His other notable works include The View from Sunset Boulevard (2003) and Yes, You Can… Achieve Financial Independence (2008,) in which he shared insights on personal finance and success.
