Inspirational Quotes by Arlo Guthrie (American Singer-Songwriter)

Arlo Guthrie (b.1947) is an American folk singer-songwriter known for his storytelling, protest songs, and contributions to folk music. The son of Woody Guthrie, he carried on his father’s legacy, merging music with activism.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Guthrie grew up among folk legends like Pete Seeger and Lead Belly. He gained national recognition with Alice’s Restaurant Massacree (1967,) a satirical talking blues piece that became a Thanksgiving tradition. His only top-40 hit, City of New Orleans (1972,) was a Steve Goodman cover celebrating American railroads.

Throughout his career, Guthrie released albums including Running Down the Road (1969,) Washington County (1970,) and Amigo (1976.) His song Massachusetts was named the state’s official folk song. He also ventured into writing, publishing Alice’s Restaurant (1968) and the children’s book Mooses Come Walking (2004.)
