Inspirational Quotes by Antoine de Rochebrune (French Catholic Priest)

Antoine de Rochebrune (b.1964) is a French Roman Catholic priest known for his leadership within Opus Dei. He has served as Vicar of Opus Dei in France since 1999 and became Vicar of Opus Dei in Canada in 2020.

Born in Floirac, Gironde, France, Rochebrune studied mechanical engineering at Grenoble Institute of Technology, earning his degree in 1986 and a doctorate in 1990. He later pursued theology, obtaining a PhD in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in 1996. His doctoral thesis, Le munus sanctificandi des évêques selon Lumen gentium 26 (1996, “The Sanctifying Role of Bishops According to Lumen Gentium 26,”) explored episcopal sanctification.

Before entering the priesthood, Rochebrune worked as a mechanical engineer for Merlin Gérin (now Schneider Electric) 1987–90. He was ordained as an Opus Dei priest in 1996 in Rome and served as a youth almoner in Paris 1996–99. In 2006, he was appointed chaplain.

His notable publication, Opus Dei: Confidences inédites—Entretiens avec Monseigneur de Rochebrune (2016, “Opus Dei: Unpublished Confidences—Interviews with Monsignor de Rochebrune,”) co-authored with Philippe Legrand, provides insights into Opus Dei’s mission and inner workings.
