Anthony Julian Huxley (1920–92) was a British botanist, writer, and horticultural expert known for his contributions to plant taxonomy, gardening, and environmental conservation. He served on the Royal Horticultural Society council and became its vice president in 1991.

Born in Oxford, England, Huxley was the eldest son of biologist Julian Huxley. He studied at Dauntsey’s School and Trinity College-Cambridge, later working as a flight technician in the Royal Air Force and the Ministry of Aircraft Production during World War II.

A leading horticulturist, he edited Amateur Gardening (1967–71) and the Royal Horticultural Society Dictionary of Gardening (1988–92.) His work emphasized plant conservation, ecological awareness, and practical gardening techniques, shaping horticultural education worldwide. His books include Indoor Plants (1957,) Flowers of the Mediterranean (1965,) Standard Encyclopedia of the World’s Mountains (1968,) Garden Perennials and Water Plants (1971,) Plant and Planet (1975,) and An Illustrated History of Gardening (1978.)
